Tips for IB students - IB DP Preparation online

The generally lively and noisy campus of the University of Queensland (UQ) was certainly quieter than usual in Semester 1, 2020. That does not mean, however, that life for our nearly 15,000 cohorts of international students who were studying from home went quiet.

UQ international students have shown that you can still excel when studying online for a university degree. They have shared their best advice and suggestions that will help you stay inspired, accomplish your goals, and research from home effectively.

Here are tips an Ib student should follow:

Establish a regular routine

The importance of keeping up a routine to give your day structure and remain on the track was stressed by all the UQ students.

This will ensure that you stay inspired, disciplined, and retain your self-esteem. Future employers often highly regard self-management skills.

Wake up for your lessons and learning events at a regular hour and plan them in time, as well as occasional breaks, workout, and leisure time.

To help control your time, use resources

Life as a student is still very busy, even if you do not leave home to pursue your studies. You also need to keep up with various assignments, take part in courses, request tests, and handle your personal time, of course.

Not all of us, on our own, are time management masters. To support you, make use of your schedule, regular to-do lists, and reminder apps.

IB Students use a to-do list on his/her tablet to better organize their time while pursuing a Bachelor of Arts (dual major in Economics and International Relations).

If that's not your thing, you do not have to use the software. For major monthly activities, such as reviews, and also some ib students use a printed calendar. They learn that writing it down and posting it anywhere she can see it helps hold her responsible.

Minimize distractions

There is no denying that when you are within arm's reach of snacks, streaming channels, and social media, being at home can be distracting. It will help you to maintain concentration by providing a quiet and relaxed place where you can carry out your work and turning off distractions such as phone and social media alerts.

IB Students from Malaysia say that while studying from home can be very frustrating, putting away his phone helps.

Participate in good habits

Keep your mind and body safe with friends and family by having enough rest, exercise, good nutrition, and social time. In order to do your best in your job and research, good habits will refresh and recharge you.

IB Students from China say some of the most significant things they want for a better study experience are having enough sleep, eating healthily, taking breaks, and exercising.
